Digital Rights Fund for WANA

SMEX spent years documenting online human rights violations in West Asia and North Africa and advocating for a free and open internet.

As challenges in the region intensify, we are responding with direct support.

The Rapid Response Digital Rights Fund for WANA (DRF) provides sub-grants to individuals, informal groups, and entities in initiatives that creatively work on countering digital rights threats and violations.

Grants can reach up to $30,000 and typically support projects lasting six months to a year.

We fund human rights defenders facing digital threats, equipping them to continue their vital work.

Promoting Digital Rights
